The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an animal abuse case in which a dog that was shot later died during surgery.
According to DCSO, a family’s pet dachshund was shot sometime around noon Sunday in the 5200 block of West 5th Street Road. The owners were not home at the time of the incident. The dog was rushed to an animal hospital but died during surgery due to internal damage.
Deputy Russ Day said he canvassed the area again today, and the investigation is still ongoing.
