Local man arrested in connection with Wednesday assault

An Owensboro man has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday assault that sent one man to the hospital with facial injuries and that also involved the discharge of a firearm.

Roger Hill, 18, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault. He is currently lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.

According to a report, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Owensboro Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 500 block of Hathaway Street, where officers located signs of a disturbance.

While officers were on scene at the residence, a victim — D’Andre Mitchell, 24, of Owensboro — arrived at the hospital with non-life threatening facial injuries that were determined to have occurred at the residence. According to OPD, It is believed that during an altercation the victim was struck with a blunt object.

Evidence that a firearm had been discharged was also located, but detectives do not believe anyone was struck and no one else was injured during the incident.
