An Owensboro man is facing multiple felony charges after an altercation where he allegedly threatened to kill a victim before barricading himself inside his home during a nearly three-hour-long standoff Friday night with the Owensboro Police Department.
Aaron H. Lanham, 34, was arrested and charged with:
- First-degree wanton endangerment
- Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
- First-degree unlawful imprisonment
- Fourth-degree assault — domestic violence
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
At approximately 6:21 p.m. Friday, OPD officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of Rudy Alley.
According to officials, the female victim advised that during an altercation Lanham pointed a handgun at her threatening to kill her. However, she was eventually able to get out of the residence.
Once officers arrived, Lanham barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to communicate further.
The Owensboro Police Department Emergency Response Team, Criminal Investigations Unit, Crisis Negotiation Unit, and Hazardous Device Unit all responded to the scene.
At approximately 9:51 p.m., Lanham surrendered and was taken into custody. He is currently lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
