Daviess County Public Schools recently named Aaron Yeiser as the instructional technology coordinator, while Karen Alward has been named coordinator of fine and performing arts for DCPS.

Aaron Yeiser
Yeiser is replacing Anthony Sparks, who retired earlier this year.

In his new role, Yeiser will work directly with school leaders and teachers in the area of instructional technology, coordinating efforts to maximize the instructional opportunities teachers provide to students through technology.

“My goal is to see that every student has a teacher who is well-trained in the effective use of instructional technology and that every teacher has the tools needed to be innovative in the classroom,” Yeiser said.

Yeiser will also share responsibilities as DCPS co-chief information officer with Steve Burton, who serves as the district computer operations manager.

Karen Alward
In her new role, Alward will promote quality professional development, arts experiences and student products while raising awareness of the arts. Responsibilities will include advocacy, fundraising and grant planning, development of community involvement opportunities and recruitment for DCPS arts programs.

“My ultimate goal for the students of DCPS is to cultivate an arts education aimed toward the whole child and to provide inspiration and equitable cultural experiences to every child over the entire span of their school experience,” Alward said. “In order to live one’s life as if it were a work of art, one must understand and practice the arts. I hope to model this by energizing the mindset and perception of arts education through the DCPS learning community.”

Alward said she wants to develop collaboration and relationships within the district and community with a goal of enriching the lives of students and the entire Daviess County region through fine and performing arts.
