The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle fatality collision that occurred early Sunday morning at U.S. 431 and Browns Valley-Red Hill Road.

A 2000 Lincoln Towncar was traveling southbound on U.S. 431 when it lost control in a curve. The vehicle went off the east side of the road where it struck a ditch, overturned and struck a utility pole before coming to rest.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office.

The driver, John P. Brackett, 17, of Central City, was transported by Air Evac to Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, Ind.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The name of the passenger will be released by the coroner’s office pending family notification.

DCSO officials believe the occupants of a black diesel pickup that was traveling southbound on U.S. 431 may have witnessed the collision and they would like to speak to those occupants to help with the investigation.

Anyone with information about this collision can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 270-685-8444.

DCSO, Owensboro Police Department, Utica Fire Department, Daviess County Fire Department and AMR were all on scene.
