OPD investigating Monday morning shooting with juvenile victim

The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a Monday morning shooting that sent a 16-year-old victim to the hospital.

According to a report, at approximately 1:05 a.m. OPD responded to the 2400 block of West 10th Street on a medical complaint, where it was believed the juvenile had been shot with a firework.

It was ultimately determined the victim had a single gunshot to the leg, and he was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by EMS, according to OPD.

Detectives are continuing to investigate, and anyone with additional information can call OPD at 270-687-8888 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
