OPD: Owensboro woman arrested for arson

An Owensboro woman was arrested Wednesday morning for first-degree arson after allegedly starting a fire at an occupied home, according to a report from the Owensboro Police Department.

Amanda M. Ixmatlahua-Citlahaua, 27, was arrested and charged with arson for the incident, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. in the 800 block of George Street.

Owensboro Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Leonard said four units responded to fire, which was extinguished within 30 minutes. He said the believe the fire was started on the front port and it extended into the home to cause extensive damage.

Leonard said the home was occupied at the time, but they aren’t sure how many people were inside.

According to OPD, Ixmatlahua-Citlahaua was arrested based upon information provided by witnesses.
