Local leaders discuss uptick in cases, hopes for vaccine with Rep. Guthrie

Community leaders met with Congressman Brett Guthrie Thursday via Zoom to discuss Daviess County’s current status regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guthrie discussed his hope for a vaccine by October, while Green River District Health Department Directory Clay Horton addressed coronavirus fatigue and the recent uptick in cases.

Judge-Executive Al Mattingly noted the rise in Daviess County’s numbers but said they are looking better in comparison to other places across the country.

Officials with Owensboro Health Regional Hospital said after closing their COVID-19 unit down too early before, they plan to keep their isolated unit going for the foreseeable future.
