NWS: Funnel cloud spotted in Owensboro, unlikely to touch ground

The National Weather Service issued the following statement at 2:53 p.m.:

“We have received reports of a small funnel cloud located near Owensboro, Kentucky. This is unlikely to touch the ground or create any damage given the environment present today.”

There is also a flash flood watch in effect until 9 p.m. for several counties including Daviess according to NWS in Paducah.

According to NWS, “Scattered, slow moving thunderstorms are expected to continue to develop during the afternoon, possibly lasting into early evening. Rainfall rates within these storms could exceed 2 inches an hour, producing the potential for flash flooding.”
