OPD: Woman charged with 4 counts of attempted murder after Sunday incident

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): An Owensboro woman has been charged with four counts each of attempted murder and first-degree wanton endangerment following an incident that occurred early Sunday afternoon, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

Detectives from OPD and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident together and charged Stephanie L. Millay, 43, after she allegedly shot at an occupied vehicle multiple times.

According to reports, at approximately 12:05 p.m. OPD and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a moving disturbance that began in the 4200 block of Thruston Dermont Road. 

According to OPD officials, the disturbance involved two vehicles, where a subject in one vehicle fired a handgun at the second vehicle. The vehicles continued following each other until another altercation occurred in the parking lot of Meijer (2951 Heartland Crossing Blvd.), where the same subject fired additional rounds at the vehicle. The subject also struck the second vehicle intentionally with her own vehicle. 

The vehicle that was struck multiple times by gunfire and intentionally struck was occupied by two individuals. 

Developing (3:18 p.m.): The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Owensboro Police Department are investigating an incident Sunday afternoon that began with shots fired in the County and ended with a vehicle accident in the City.

According to DCSO officials, two instances of shots fired and are believed to have been committed by the same individual, but neither resulted in injuries.

DCSO officials said the first shooting took place on Thruston Dermont Road and the second shooting occurred on KY 54. No suspects have been named at this time. 

The incident on KY 54 led to a car accident, which is being investigated by OPD. 

Authorities are continuing to gather information regarding the ongoing investigation.
