The Monument Relocation Committee will hold its first meeting today to publicly introduce its five members and discuss their plan for recommending a new site for the Confederate statue located on the Daviess County Courthouse lawn.

The five committee members include chair Aloma Dew and appointees Wesley Acton, Kenny Barr, Anne Damron and Tim Kline.

Due to COVID-19, the committee meeting will be held virtually. Daviess County Fiscal Court will stream the meeting live through its Facebook page at 4 p.m. Public comments may be directed to [email protected]

As stated during a previous Fiscal Court meeting, all Monument Relocation Committee meetings will be open to public record, including any emails sent or received between committee members and the general public.

A resolution approved by Fiscal Court states that the committee may consult with other groups and the community before making a recommendation.

The recommendation is due within six months or by March 3, 2021.
