Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has been chosen as a 2020 State Homeland Security Grant Program recipient.

DCSO will receive $51,300 to purchase computer hardware and digital forensic software, plus three years of maintenance support.

This will enable the office to operate sufficiently as it relates to an assortment of digital investigations.

“With the continuous changes in technology and the crimes associated with electronic devices and data sources, it’s extremely important to continue our growth in this investigation realm,” DCSO Chief Deputy Major Barry Smith said in a press release.

“Our office is fortunate to have Special Deputy Cheryl Purdy, who volunteers her time and expertise in these investigative measures,” he said. “Her assistance in preparing this grant application and her continued dedication to our office and the citizens of Daviess County is commendable.”
