In observance of Christmas and New Year’s holiday, the following changes are scheduled for City of Owensboro services:
City Hall, Parks Administration Office and Owensboro Transit System will be closed on:
– Christmas Eve – Thursday, December 24
– Christmas Day – Friday, December 25
– New Year’s Day – Friday, January 1
Sanitation services will not run on:
– Friday, December 25 (collection will be on Saturday, December 26)
– Friday, January 1 (collection will be on Saturday, January 2)
For the City’s customer’s first scheduled collection day after Christmas, the Sanitation Department will modify procedures and collect extra trash that is bagged and placed next to the mobile cart. If trash is placed in cardboard boxes, be mindful that rain may weaken boxes and make collection impossible. Do not overfill mobile carts.
Extra trash collection is for holiday trash only and does not include “clean-outs” of furniture, tires appliances and the like.
Natural Christmas trees (without lights, ornaments, or stands) will be collected beginning Saturday, January 2 through Thursday, January 7 on customer’s scheduled trash collection day. Do not place trees in plastic bags.
