The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting a Winter Weather Facebook Live Q&A session tonight in conjunction with several state and local organizations, including Paducah’s National Weather Service. The forum will be open to the public and will address several weather-related topics, including a long-term winter weather forecast from NWS meteorologists.
The event will be streamed at 7 p.m. via DCEMA’s Facebook page.
DCEMA Director Andy Ball said the virtual forum will give members of the community a chance to ask any weather-related questions, which can be submitted in the comments section of the live stream.
Ball said DCEMA holds at least two meetings per year with the various organizations who partake in the Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee. The group offers weather forecasts and preparedness information to those living in the western part of the state ahead of the winter season.
“The National Weather Service of Paducah heads it,” Ball said. “We will discuss severe weather conditions, plan campaigns and present preparedness strategies for citizens. Because winter weather is what it is, it’s hard to make [100% accurate] weather forecasts outside of the next 10 days. NWS can take a look at the long-term forecast and see whether we’re looking at a wet/dry winter, a cold or warm winter.”
Also joining the session will be other EMA organizations from across the region, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and local utility companies.
