Officials with Owensboro Health say a threatening comment against the hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Road put the facility into lockdown midday Saturday.
Owensboro Health Director of Marketing Brian Hamby told Owensboro Times the hospital initiated a lockdown around 11:15 a.m. after a threatening comment was received. Owensboro Police Department investigated the incident and the comment was determined not to be a credible threat according to Hamby.
The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m.
“We do not believe patients or team members were ever in danger during the lockdown,” Hamby said. “However, Owensboro Health has strong protocols in place to help ensure everyone’s safety when a potential threat is received, and we immediately implemented precautionary measures. We defer details of the investigation to OPD.”
OPD officials had not yet responded to requests for comments at the time of publication.
