Daviess County’s regional REAL ID center will be fully available to the public in the near future, but officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said there will be a soft opening next week so that employees can get acclimated to the new environment.

Starting Tuesday, only those who have applied for a REAL ID at the initial temporary office in Daviess County will be able to receive it at the new permanent location at the Daviess County Operations Center at 2620 KY 81.

KYTC employees began moving into the new office space this week and will run the site from here on out.

Naitore Djigenou, KYTC Director of Public Affairs, said the soft opening will allow employees to test their operational capabilities, install cameras and complete the necessary training before opening to the general public.

“Once everything is to our levels of satisfaction, we will announce an official opening date,” Djigbenou said.

The office will be closed Monday, but employees begin issuing REAL IDs Tuesday.
