St. Vincent de Paul’s annual “Power of the Purse” fundraiser returns Sept. 24, and this year’s theme is “Lowcountry Glam.” The outdoor event will be held on the grounds of WeatherBerry at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden.

As the signature fundraiser for St. Vincent De Paul, the event brings a spotlight to poverty issues surrounding women and families in western Kentucky. During the year the committee gathers high-end purses to auction off at the Gala.

Dishes for the event will include simmered vegetables, seafood, shrimp boil and southern desserts.

The Power of the Purse committee is already planning the event while actively searching for community sponsors and in-kind donations.

Those interested in becoming a sponsor, donating a purse or auction package can contact St. Vincent Chief Executive Officer Richard Remp-Morris at 270-315-5747.

More information will be availble on social media regarding ticket availability and auction items.

According to their website, St. Vincent serves those in need “by assisting with food, clothing, shelter, utility bills, transportation, medicine, rent and other immediate needs. Our goal is to remove barriers to self sufficiency.”
