The Home Eviction Relief Fund was brought back Thursday, with the state providing an additional $264 million to help with rental and utility assistance for past-due and future bills.
Starting Feb. 15, tenants who qualify can apply for rental and utility assistance to cover past-due bills dating back to April 2020 and three months-worth of future bills. If approved, lump- sum payments will be made directly to landlords and utility providers.
There are multiple eligibility requirements that tenant and landlord applicants must meet.

Beshear asked landlords and utility companies to exercise patience with low-income tenants who are behind on payments.
“If a tenant is evicted, this fund cannot cover past-due bills. If the utility gets shut off, we won’t be able to get a prompt direct payment to the utility,” Beshear said.
Beshear also announced that a third party can help tenants apply if a tenant does not have access to a smart phone or computer, or if they are elderly or disabled. The helper will be able identify themselves and can provide contact information in case more information is needed.
