January was strong for the Greater Owensboro REALTOR Association, as home values and demand continue to rise for the local housing market.
For GO Realtors, the average sold price for January was $173,486 — an increase of 11% from January 2020. Sales volume was for the month was $21.8 million, up 27% from 2020 ($17.2 million).
“The housing market continues to be strong. In comparison to January 2020, we saw a 27% increase in sales volume,” said GO Realtors President-elect Michelle Wiesman. “More good news for homeowners is that the value of homes is continuing to rise. These are all great signs for owners looking to sell this year.”
Wiesman said with low interest rates, more buyers are entering the market.
GO Realtors also reported that 126 homes were sold in January, with 160 sales pending. Days on market was 76 days, and their current inventory of homes is less than 160 active listings.
“Low housing inventory levels continue to be a challenge for home buyers,” said Jason Bellamy, GO Realtors President. “We currently have fewer homes available for sale than at any other time in recent years.”
