COVID-19 update: 1 death, 49 cases reported; 26 additional deaths announced after audit

A total of 49 more cases of COVID-19 and 20 recoveries were announced Friday for the Green River District, including 22 cases and 12 recoveries in Daviess County. One coronavirus-related death was reported in Daviess County.

Based on the state of Kentucky’s audit of death certificates from March 2020 through February 2021, there are 26 additional COVID-19-related deaths in the Green River District being reported.

Additional deaths after the audit were reported in Daviess (12), Hancock (1), Henderson (7), McLean (2), Ohio (1), Webster (1) and Union (2) counties.

As reported by Green River District Health Department:

  • New cases by county: Daviess (22), Hancock (5), Henderson (15), McLean (2), Ohio (3), Webster (2)
  • New recoveries by county: Daviess (12), Ohio (7), Union (1)
    • Note: The number of reported recoveries went down in three counties — Henderson (4), McLean (2), Webster (2)
  • Total number of reported cases in the district: 20,480
  • Total number of reported cases now recovered: 18,373 (90%)
  • Total number of reported cases currently hospitalized: 8
  • Total number of cases that have required hospitalization: 856 (4%)
  • Total number of deaths in the district: 370

The county totals to date are:

  • Daviess County – 9,743 cases, 8,817 recovered, 2 current hospitalizations, 346 ever hospitalized, 173 deaths
  • Hancock County – 792 cases, 703 recovered, 2 current hospitalizations, 23 ever hospitalized, 16 deaths
  • Henderson County – 4,313 cases, 3,768 recovered, 2 current hospitalization, 200 ever hospitalized, 69 deaths
  • McLean County – 831 cases, 760 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 48 ever hospitalized, 28 deaths
  • Ohio County – 2,419 cases, 2,181 recovered, 2 current hospitalizations, 121 ever hospitalized, 51 deaths
  • Union County – 1,226 cases, 1,130 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 64 ever hospitalized, 14 deaths
  • Webster County – 1,156 cases, 1,014 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 54 ever hospitalized, 19 deaths

Demographics (not all demographic information is available because of incomplete reporting from a testing site):

  • Age range: 1 month-102 years old
  • Average age: 44
  • Male: 46.7%
  • Female: 53.3%

Cases by age range are :

  • <1 — 81 cases
  • 1-11 — 749 cases
  • 12-19 — 1,826 cases
  • 20-29 — 3,376 cases
  • 30-39 — 3,243 cases
  • 40-49 — 3,204 cases
  • 50-59 — 2,947 cases
  • 60-69 — 2,477 cases
  • 70-79 — 1,519 cases
  • 80+ — 1,058 cases

The cases reported by GRDHD have been investigated and confirmed locally. These cases are then reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This process sometimes may result in lags between state and local reporting and some discrepancies from duplicate reports.
