All indoor and outdoor businesses and venues that cater to 1,000 or fewer people can increase to 75% capacity starting May 28, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Thursday. In addition, indoor and outdoor events with more than 1,000 people can be held at 60% capacity.

Beshear said he expects the state to fully remove all capacity restrictions by July.

“We don’t have to be patient for that much longer, but we do have to finish our work and protect the people around us,” he said.

Capacity restrictions right are at 60% now for businesses serving 1,000 or less people, and at 50% for those serving more.

The Governor also clarified that small groups of individuals are no longer mandated to wear facial coverings indoors in private businesses or homes if all individuals present have received the final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior.

Beshear said to date, more than 1.8 million people in Kentucky have received at least their first vaccine dose. Beshear previously set a goal for 2.5 million Kentuckians to get their first dose before fully relaxing restrictions, though he’s already begun to loosen some.
