The City of Owensboro is seeking suggestions for the renaming of the Northwest Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area, hoping to find something that reflects the history and beauty of the neighborhood.

The new name will be displayed on signs, pole banners and other markers as part of the redevelopment efforts of the city. The person who submits the winning name will earn a $100 gift card.

Community Development Director Abby Shelton said City Commissioners mentioned including new signage to give the neighborhood an identity “outside of the generic name the city has given the development plan.”

“This is a way to not only engage the public, but to also spread awareness about the programming in that area,” Shelton said.

Name ideas can be submitted through this link or via the city’s website until May 31.

Voting for the suggested names will be open to the public and will take place June 1-30. The winning name will be announced at a July City Commission meeting.
