The Daviess County Public Schools Board of Education approved a 10-year, $1 million sponsorship deal with Independence Bank for the district’s two high school football stadiums. The deal does not include naming rights, so they will continue to be called Eagle Stadium at Apollo and Reid Stadium at Daviess County.
The old Eagle Stadium was torn down and rebuilt beyond the softball field because the space was needed for more parking as Apollo made major renovations to the school building. Reid Stadium remained where it was but underwent heavy renovations.
Both stadiums were designed to become multi-use facilities. Already, they’ve played host to graduations and track meets, and there are plans to eventually host band competitions.
The combined projects — which included new parking lots and a new building to house locker rooms for Apollo, among other things — totaled about $17 million.
The $1 million from the Independence Bank sponsorship will go toward the original cost of the stadiums, according to DCPS Superintendent Matt Robbins.
“We’re very grateful for the ongoing partnership we’ve had with Independence Bank,” Robbins said. “They’ve earned our business through the bid process for quite a long period of time.”
