Name released for man in fatal motorcycle accident Sunday

Monday, 12:10 p.m. — The operator of the motorcycle in a fatal accident Sunday evening has been identified as 38-year-old Brandon Coppage of Fordsville.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Coppage was traveling eastbound on KY 54 when he failed to negotiate a curve and left his lane, colliding with a westbound truck. Coppage was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the truck were uninjured.

Sunday, 7:33 p.m. — One person has died after a fatal collision between a vehicle and motorcycle that occurred Sunday evening on KY 54 near the intersection with Collier Road in east Daviess County, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

That portion of KY 54, which is just inside the county line between Whitesville and Fordsville, will be closed for the next 2-3 hours.

A detour has been set up. Drivers headed east on KY 54 can turn left onto Leitchfield Road then right onto Herbert Road to get back on the highway. Drivers headed into Daviess County can turn right onto Herbert Road then left onto Leitchfield Road.
