The Daviess County Detention Center is gradually returning to pre-pandemic operations. Effective today, DCDC will be resuming their volunteer programs and church services for the facility with COVID-19 precautions.
“Many of our inmate programs previously resumed, but we are now excited to welcome back ‘Celebrate Recovery’ and ‘Alcoholics Anonymous’ for both male and female inmates,” according to a post on the DCDC Facebook Page. “Additionally, we are excited to resume our church services and ministry programs, which are coordinated through Chaplain (Emil) Herzog.”
In-person attorney visits on the secure side of the facility previously resumed on March 22.
Other authorized legal representatives on the approved list are now able to visit in-person on the secure side, with or without an attorney present. Any attorneys or legal representatives will still be asked to comply with COVID-19 protocols, which include temperature checks, face masks and social distancing guidelines.
The privileged communication booth visitation access will remain available for attorneys and authorized legal representatives on DCDC’s approved list. Any other professional visitors on the approved list will only have access to the recorded visitation booths located in the lobby.
Currently the jail does not have any COVID-19 cases, and they continue to work with their medical staff to screen inmates and staff entering the facility. The inmates and staff were previously provided with multiple opportunities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
