A juvenile is in custody and an adult has been detained for further questioning after an incident where a victim was shot one time in the parking lot at Apollo High School after the football game Friday night, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Chief Deputy Major Barry Smith, there was an altercation “between a few individuals” that occurred shortly after the end of the game between Apollo and Owensboro high schools in the main lot directly east of the stadium.
Smith said at this point deputies believe only one shot was fired, but it struck a victim whose age is not yet known. The victim was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, and the extent of the injuries are not known at this time.
Smith said a juvenile has been arrested on unrelated charges but appeared to be part of the altercation. An adult has been detained but not arrested at the time of this report.
The scene has been secured but detectives are on site and at the hospital as they continue to investigate.
