Owensboro Cabinet Outlet is approaching one year of business at its Triplett Street location. A retail venture of H&H Construction in Henderson, the group first opened the retail store in Henderson eight years ago but wanted to extend their reach to Owensboro.
H&H has been a staple in the local construction industry for more than 40 years, and owners Keith and Josh Haynes were elated to open a retail store in Owensboro. Along with store manager and Owensboro native Cindy Heep, they have been overwhelmed with how the Owensboro community has embraced the store.
“Owensboro has welcomed us with open arms,” Heep said. “We have operated businesses in several other locations, and Owensboro has been absolutely second to none. The city of Owensboro obviously realizes that every business that succeeds is success for the community.”
Cabinet Outlet specializes in kitchen and bathroom cabinets and vinyl plank flooring. Due to a surplus of in-stock laminate countertops and butcher block countertops, they’ve added that to their offerings.
Heep said that while some retailers are experiencing delays as long as 10-20 weeks for orders to arrive, they can fill orders on the same day. They pride themselves on keeping their products in stock and competing in price with box stores while offering a “higher-quality product.”
“While we obviously want to continue to grow our business, we want to make sure we don’t lose that small business atmosphere,” she said. “We have always put customer relations ahead of volume, and we will continue to do that. We want to assure our customers that they will always see the same smiling faces when they enter the store.”
Heep said they’ve had many customers send pictures of their “do-it-yourself” kitchens, boasting Cabinet Outlet products in their first year. They are presently looking for opportunities to give back to the community or nonprofits to partner with to say thank you.
“We feel blessed to have been so readily accepted into Owensboro,” Heep said. “We are asking that any local charities or groups that would like to be considered to reach out to us during the next few weeks. We will be donating a portion of our monthly sales to a different group each month to say thank you to the community that has accepted us so quickly.”
