OPD: Woman stabbed multiple times, injuries potentially fatal; Owensboro man arrested in case

Update: Detectives arrested 33-year-old Thomas L. Baxter, of Owensboro, for first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence in the case, according to OPD.

A woman was stabbed multiple times during an assault Tuesday morning and has been hospitalized with potentially fatal injuries, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

At approximately 6:53 a.m., OPD responded to 3720 New Hartford Road (Days Inn) for what was initially described as a suicide attempt. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female with multiple stab wounds and other injuries consistent with an assault, according to reports. 

The victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
