Voters who wish to update their political party affiliation are being reminded to do so by Friday in order to be eligible to vote in the May 17, 2022, primary election.
Anyone wishing to update party affiliation, or any other voter information, can visit sos.ky.gov, click on “Elections” and select “Register to Vote,” according to Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams.
Daviess County elections officials said voters can visit govoteky.com and click on “new/update registration.” Voters can also stop by the office in the Daviess County Courthouse (Room 107, 212 Saint Ann St.) to fill out a new voter registration card to change their party affiliation.
While there are still more registered Democrats than Republicans in Daviess County, the gap closed by more than 2,000 voters over the last year. Daviess County had 39,327 registered Democrats in November 2020, compared to 38,370 as of Dec. 15. The number of Daviess Countians registered as Republicans grew from 32,392 to 33,207 in that same period.
Local election officials are als reminding anyone interested in running for office this election cycle that the candidate filing deadline is 4 p.m. Jan. 7, 2021, for candidates who must run in a primary.
