Local homes sales in November jumped back up after a few months of a plateau with 173 units sold according to the latest numbers from the Greater Owensboro Realty Association. That far outpaces the numbers of 139 and 116 homes sold in the Novembers of 2020 and 2019, respectively.
The number of sales pending (174) and active listings (170) stayed fairly steady from the month prior. In November 2019, there were 372 active listings.
With the demand so much higher than two years ago, prices continue to reflect the flip in the market. Two years ago, the average price was $150,931 compared to the current average of $202,320.
“We are seeing a continuously active market with November having the third highest homes sold so far in 2021. Typically, November tends to see less activity,” said GO REALTORS President-Elect Michelle Wiesman. “The demand for housing doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. If you have thought of selling your home now is a great time.”
With the increase in both units sold and price, the total sales for November was more than double in 2021 ($35,001,294) than in 2019 ($17,507,973).
“November was the fifth month in 2021 with total sales exceeding $35 million,” said Jason Bellamy, President of GO REALTORS. “The value of residential property in Greater Owensboro is still increasing while the market remains active. While inventory levels remain a bit of a challenge, it seems there may be a little more breathing room in the current market.”
