When American Idol’s 20th season premieres on Feb. 27, there will be a local face for some people to recognize, as Dakota Hayden auditioned for this season.
Hayden is a current student at Ohio County High School and has performed in several different locations across Ohio and Daviess County, plus some Evansville locations. Some of his Owensboro performances include PorchFest and Friday After 5 in 2021.
He mainly cites himself as a country music artist and has performed covers including Hotel California by the Eagles on his website.
Hayden announced he auditioned at the tail end of last year, however he is not yet able to discuss where he auditioned or how he did.
The show will premiere on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., and pop artist Katy Perry, R&B singer Lionel Richie and county singer Luke Bryan all return for their fifth season as judges. Continuing his longstanding gig, Ryan Seacrest returns for his 20th season as the host.
