Owensboro Parks & Recreation is now accepting registrations for their two Summer Day Camps, offering a variety of activities including swimming, field trips, educational programs, ice skating, and more.
Registration is open now for returning families, while families wishing to participate for the first time can do so beginning Feb. 16. The registration deadline is April 29.
Camps will take place May 23-Aug. 9 for ages 5-12. All 5-year-olds must be currently enrolled in a kindergarten class. Each camp is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Early morning drop off is available at 7 a.m. for an extra $2 per day. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided at both camps throughout the summer.
The traditional Summer Day Camp is located at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administration Building at 1530 McJohnson Avenue. During the summer, campers will go swimming twice a week, go on one field trip a week, participate in fun and educational games and activities, and have special visitors that will add to their camp experience.
The Edge Summer Day Camp is for children that love to skate. Each morning campers will get time on the ice with a counselor who is educated in figure skating, hockey, or recreational skating to improve campers’ skills. In the afternoon campers will play fun structured games and activities.
To register for either camp, there is an annual $45 non-refundable registration fee and a weekly fee of $90/whole week — or $76/half week (3 days or fewer) for The Edge only.
There is a Sibling Discount of $3 per child per week for each additional sibling registered after the first child who resides in the same household. This discount is not applicable to campers in the Parks & Rec. scholarship program.
At the time of registration, all forms must be filled out completely and a copy of the camper’s current immunization form must be provided. The $45 registration fee and the first week of camp fee are due at that time also. The registration fee is an annual fee that is good for summer, spring break, fall break, holiday camps. Space is limited.
