Two development agencies are expected to turn almost 60 acres of land along Goetz Drive into residential space over the next couple of years.

One of the developments will be through JED Rentals, on the south side of the road by Southtown Boulevard. Paul Davis, Manager at JED Rentals, said they purchased 2 acres and are dedicating the space to high-scale duplexes in a less-trafficked area of the city.

“It’s kind of become the quiet part, now things are wanting to come out here, but not like before like Highway 54,” Davis said.

Davis plans to build a small area named the South with seven duplexes on the property. They are in the early stages of development, so plans are not completely finalized.

On the northern side of Goetz Drive, City Manager Nate Pagan recently said that there is roughly 53 acres of land that is being developed in the future.

Pagan said the property sold a few months prior and the owners plan to dedicate the land to residential development with 177 lots.

The land — owned by Owensboro Developers, LLC — is expected to be annexed by the City at the next commission meeting at the request of the owner.

The area surrounds the Goetz ditch and is behind Burns Middle and Elementary Schools just off Goetz Drive.

Multiple attempts to contact the owner of the land were unsuccessful.
