A Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s transit bus was involved in a collision with a truck Tuesday morning in downtown Owensboro. There were 17 juveniles on the bus, two of which were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Owensboro Police and Fire department officials.

The collision occurred at J.R. Miller Boulevard and East 5th Street.

According to Trey Davidson with OFD, the truck driver who collided with the bus also experienced minor injuries but was not transported to OHRH. Davidson said they treated a couple of juveniles on scene, with two transported by AMR Ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

After the collision was deemed safe for the juveniles to exit, parents and guardians were notified and had the option to still take their child to work at Holiday World. The juveniles who opted to stay will be transported to work in another Holiday World vehicle.

The Holiday World bus had a dent on the entry side, and the truck had significant damage to the front end so had to be towed away.
