A 19-year-old is facing a long list of weapon, drug, and other charges following what Owensboro Police Department called a “significant arrest.” According to OPD, Braxton Green had two stolen handguns on him when he attempted to flee police during a traffic stop. Officials said Green already had a “significant” criminal record including previous arrests.
According to a release, at 3:55 p.m. Thursday OPD officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle wanted in connection to several cases over the last several days. The vehicle fled from the traffic stop and officers located it unoccupied a short time later near Bosley Road and York Drive.
Officers located Green, and after a foot pursuit took him into custody in the 2200 block of McFarland Avenue. At the time of his arrest, Green had two handguns on him that had both been stolen from a location in the county and reported to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Green was charged with:
∙ Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (First Offense)
∙ Criminal Mischief – First Degree
∙ Receiving Stolen Property – Firearm (2 Counts)
∙ Trafficking in Marijuana – (First Offense; Enhancement – while armed)
∙ Fleeing or Evading Police – First Degree (Motor Vehicle)
∙ Receiving Stolen Property
∙ Criminal Trespassing – Third Degree (2 Counts)
∙ Fleeing or Evading Police – Second Degree (On Foot)
∙ Giving Officer False Identifying Information
In addition to the previous charges, Green had outstanding warrants for the below charges:
∙ Wanton Endangerment – First Degree
∙ Assault – Fourth Degree (Minor Injury)
∙ Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (First Offense)
According to OPD, Green already has a “significant” criminal record since the age of 18 that includes numerous arrests. Some of these previous charges include:
∙ Burglary – Second Degree (2 Counts)
∙ Theft by Unlawful Taking – Auto ($500 or more but under $10,000)
∙ Trafficking in Marijuana (First Offense)
∙ Resisting Arrest
∙ Unlawful Transaction with a Minor – Second Degree (2 Counts)
∙ Criminal Trespassing – First Degree
∙ Theft by Unlawful Taking (3 Counts)
∙ Numerous other drug charges
