A juvenile is facing several charges after leading deputies on a short pursuit and after a stolen vehicle and stolen firearm were recovered, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a release, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday DCSO responded to the 6300 block of Autumn Valley Trace in reference to a stolen vehicle. As a part of their investigation, deputies received a tip that the vehicle was in the area of Carter Road and Crabtree Avenue.
According to the release, Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle being operated by a male subject in the 600 Block of Crabtree Avenue. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and the truck was located moments later in a nearby alley.
DCSO reported that after seeing deputies approach, the male subject took off on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Deputies observed the subject toss a firearm, which was later discovered to be loaded, according to the release.
The firearm had previously been reported stolen through the Owensboro Police Department.
The operator was discovered to be a juvenile, who was lodged on the following charges:
- Theft by unlawful taking or disposition (Auto), $10,000<$1,000,000
- Fleeing or evading police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
- Fleeing or evading police, 1st Degree (On Foot)
- Possession of a handgun by minor, 1st Degree
- Receiving stolen property (Firearm)
- Wanton endangerment, 1st degree (Police Officer) — 4 counts
- Resisting arrest
- Tampering with physical evidence — 2 counts
- Criminal trespass 2nd Degree — 3 Counts
