Friday After 5 and United Way of the Ohio Valley are bringing singer/songwriter Blanco Brown — whose viral hit The Git Up is certified 11x Platinum across 3 countries — to Owensboro on Aug. 19. Alongside the concert, the organizations are hosting a “text-to-give” opportunity to help raise money to support local nonprofits that are partnering agencies with United Way.

Nonprofits will have tables set up to share information about their community resources with the public. The “text-to-give” is open now for anyone wanting to donate. Those wishing to donate should text “makeachange” to 71777. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Anyone interested can email [email protected].

The free concert will also mark the opening night of the 2022 Owensboro HydroFair.

Brown, who blurs the lines between Country and Hip-Hop music, will perform on the Jagoe Homes Riverfront Live Stage on the Convention Center Lawn.

The Git Up claimed the top spot in charts globally with nearly 4 billion views across social platforms. It claimed No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 12 weeks and was the top-selling digital Country song in the U.S. for 13 weeks. Billboard named him Top Country Artist for 2019.
