OPD: Man arrested following shooting-related incident Thursday

An Owensboro man has been arrested following a shooting-related incident Thursday afternoon on Orchard Street, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to reports, at approximately 12:48 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Orchard Street in reference to a subject who had been shot. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who reported having an accidental discharge. The victim was transported to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with what  are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.  

Detectives with the OPD Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene. Detectives conducted interviews, collected evidence, executed a search warrant on the residence and determined that the victim was shot during a physical altercation, according to OPD.  

Detectives arrested Richard G. Ogle, 36, for first-degree wanton  endangerment. Ogle has also been charged in the past with the  following:  

  • Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree  
  • Terroristic Threatening, 3rd Degree  
  • Theft under $500  
  • Violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO  
  • Assault, 4th Degree (Domestic Violence) minor injury  
  • Failure to Appear (2 counts)
