OPD: Sorgho man charged with murder for shooting on West 10th Street

Update, October 7 — The Daviess County Coroner’s office has identified the victim as
Christopher Green, 42, of Owensboro.

Original story — Keith Bryant, a 33-year-old Sorgho man, has been charged with murder after an adult male victim died from a gunshot wound Thursday, according to the Owensboro Police Department. 

According to OPD, at 11:33 a.m. officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 2700 block of West 10th Street. When officers arrived they located an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound and began administering life-saving treatment with assistance from the Owensboro Fire Department and AMR emergency medical. 

The victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he ultimately died from his injuries, according to an OPD release. 

Per the release, initial information received indicated the suspect fled the scene following the shooting. 

Detectives with the OPD Criminal Investigation Division and Evidence Collection Unit responded to the scene. During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect, Bryant, and determined the suspect was possibly en route to a location in the county. 

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and deputies located and detained Bryant a short period of time later, according to OPD. 

Bryant was taken into custody by OPD and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Daviess County Detention Center.
