Contrary to belief on Facebook, a young man was not hit by a car Monday after a Facebook post spread throughout the city depicting a man strapped to a medical bed.

The post, which was spread by a ‘Tiara Java,’ originally found its way to users’ timelines from a Facebook group. After an investigation by Owensboro Times staff, Java has made similar posts depicting the same young man in a bed and a scene with first responders claiming to be in various cities across the country.

While they are real photos, the story attached to Owensboro is not as much. The man in the bed is actually famous Youtuber and TikToker Alex Stokes after a trip to the emergency room in 2019.

The photo of the scene was not able to be traced back as clearly using some Google tools. However, the photo can be traced back to several other posts from ‘Tiara Java’ and other accounts alleging the same event in their city in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Okeechobee, Florida among other places.
