DCSO: Two vehicle collision, 2 juveniles with serious injuries, 6 adults injured

Two young children are experiencing serious injuries and 6 adults received non-life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon, according to Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

Juan Carlos Velazquez, 27, was arrested by DCSO for DUI 1st Degree (Aggravated), Assualt 1st Degree (2 counts), and Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts). Velazquez was driving northbound on Wrights Landing Road and failed to stop at the stop sign causing a collision with another vehicle, according to DCSO.

DCSO reports the second vehicle was driving eastbound on Highway 2830 had an adult male, an adult female, a 1-year-old male and a 3-year-old female.

The 1-year-old was transported by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and later flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville with serious injuries, according to DCSO. The 3-year-old female was also transported to OHRH by AMR, however, she was later flown to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville with serious injuries.

The adult male and female were both transported to OHRH with non-life-threatening injuries. The four occupants of the first vehicle were also transported to OHRH with non-life-threatening injuries, according to DCSO.
