St. Vincent de Paul of Owensboro is launching their Warmth for the Holidays donation drive and hopes to collect gloves, blankets, coats and other winter wear to donate to local shelters in town ahead of the winter.

Richard Remp-Morris with St. Vincent said that they collecting the items until December 15 and will be distributing them shortly after.

“We’re going to share with other shelters in the area, wherever we think the greatest need is,” Remp-Morris said. “Some places like St. Joseph Peace Mission, the kids stay there, and they often don’t have a lot so it’d be nice to be able to share with them too.”

As he was set up outside the Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Rooster Booster, he was able to showcase the donations truck to all the community members and even receive some donations.

The donations are also being collected with a new box truck that came from a donation which will allow the organization to move its operations across town easier.

Seeing the collaboration from both the sponsors and the community members is motivational for the drive.

“That’s the specialness of living here. Owensboro-Daviess County takes care of its own so there’s never a lack of generosity,” he said.

All donations can be made at both Fifth Third Bank locations, Simply Chic and Jerry Ray Davis.
