One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon at US 60 East and Hawes Boulevard, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, the incident occurred just before 5 p.m.

Per DCSO, a 2013 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on US 60 East with no headlights illuminated. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was attempting to make a left-hand turn from eastbound US 60 to northbound Hawes Boulevard, and turned in front of the Mustang.

According to the release, the Silverado struck the driver’s side of the Mustang, causing the car to go down an embankment off the north side of the roadway.

The 19 year-old male driver of the Mustang had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire department personnel and was transported by AMR Ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Daviess County Coroner’s office after family notifications have been made.

The driver of the Silverado, 50-year-old Jarrod Bradshaw of Utica, was transported by AMR to OHRH with non-life threatening injuries.

Other agencies responding included Kentucky State Police and the Thruston and East Daviess County fire departments.
