The Daviess County Fire Department has launched an online burn permit application. The application is intended for residents who live on less than one acre of land outside city limits and wish to burn something other than leaves.

The online permit can be found here. A list of accepted items for open burning and what not to burn can also be found at that link.

During fire seasons, it is illegal to burn any materials within 150 feet of woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Spring Forest Fire Hazard Season runs from February 15 to April 30, while the Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season runs from October 1 to December 15.

For specifics on open burning, contact the Division of Air Quality at 270-687-7304 or 1-800-928-2380.  All callers will be given the current burn requirements/restrictions.

For other questions, call the Daviess County Fire Department at 270-685-8440.
