Residents interested in reporting weather phenomena to the National Weather Service and local Emergency Management office are invited to attend the annual Basic Weather Spotter course in Owensboro next month.
This course is open to all individuals, regardless of their level of meteorological knowledge. It will take place at 6 p.m. on January 30 at Owensboro Christian Church (2818 New Hartford Rd., Entrance E). No commitment is required to attend, and the course is open to those who simply want to learn more about the weather for their own peace of mind.
A weather spotter is a trained volunteer who observes and reports weather conditions. During the course, attendees will have the chance to learn about various weather phenomena and how to report them to the National Weather Service and local Emergency Management office. This information can be used to help protect the community by providing timely and accurate weather updates.
