A 26-year-old Owensboro man has been charged with felony assault after witnesses allege he stabbed a man in the neck during an altercation Sunday morning, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s office.
Andrew C. Pierce was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree assault as well as first-degree trespassing. He is currently lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
According to a release from DCSO, deputies were dispatched to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital early Sunday in reference to a male coming into the emergency room with a severe stab wound to the neck area.
“Unable to speak with the victim, deputies interviewed several witnesses. Witnesses stated that suspect, Andrew Pierce, had forced his way into their home in the 5400 block of Ruidoso Loop,” according to the release. “Upon entry, Pierce allegedly came into the victim’s room and demanded he come outside to fight him. Witnesses say the victim went outside to try to calm him down before a brief altercation ensued.”
Per DCSO, witnesses said Pierce made a statement referencing “getting something for the victim before leaving.”
Witnesses told deputies that moments later Pierce forced his way back into the home and stabbed the victim in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Deputies located Pierce in the 600 block of JR Miller Boulevard, where he was taken in without incident.
