The Owensboro Shrine Club, volunteers who dress up as clowns to entertain children and raise funds to support children’s hospitals, are having to put their fundraisers on hold after someone stole their air compressor recently, according to club president Jerry Maggard. They are asking for help with finding it so they can get back to helping put smiles on children’s faces.

Maggard said Wednesday that after an event in December, the club loaded all their equipment in their trailer near Cheetah Clean Auto Wash on KY 54.

As they began preparing for an event on February 2, they checked the trailer and found the lock broken off and their 125 psi red air compressor — used to inflate the balloons at their events — gone.

Maggard said it was really sad that the person stole from a nonprofit organization.

Maggard has notified the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office of the alleged robbery. Sheriff Brad Youngman said Wednesday afternoon that the case had not yet been assigned at that time so no details about an investigation were available.

Maggard said that if anyone learns of any information pertaining to the compressor, to notify him on Facebook or email him at [email protected].
