The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating several related burglaries and thefts throughout the county that have occurred from mid-2022 through January of 2023. One person was arrested earlier this week, while another was charged last year.
According to DCSO, in May 2022 a search warrant was conducted at 28-year-old Nicholas C. Small’s residence in the 200 block of Tamarack Road. Officials said that resulted in the recovery of a stolen trailer, construction equipment, tools, tool boxes, clothing, and other items that were all reported stolen last year.
Small was charged with:
- Burglary 3rd Degree
- Theft or Disposition of Property $10,000 < $1,000,000

According to a release, DCSO Forensics Investigations Unit Supervisor Dr. C. Purdy was recently able to obtain digital forensic evidence placing 44-year-old Billy C. Bailey and Small together at the time of these burglaries and thefts, resulting in new charges.
Officials said ongoing investigations resulted in DCSO securing another search warrant for a vehicle that had been in possession of Bailey, of the 7000 block of Todd Bottoms Road.
That resulted in the recovery of a stolen license plate, a stolen trailer out of Owensboro and additional stolen items including several tools, clothing and tool boxes taken during thefts and burglaries, according to DCSO.
Bailey was charged by detectives on scene and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. Charges include:
- Burglary 3rd Degree (2 counts)
