A 54-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a repair shop and driving under the influence while leading police on a chase, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. He faces nearly a dozen charges related to the incident.

DCSO identified the man as Micheal A. Scott, and he is lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. The DCDC site lists Scott as living in Louisville.

According to a release, DCSO received a dispatch at approximately 2:40 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a reckless driver in the 9200 block of US 60 West. Callers advised a pick-up truck “was traveling at a high rate of speed, all over the roadway, and had side swiped a semi-truck,” according to DCSO.

Officials said deputies responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description given. Deputies reportedly observed the vehicle swerving all over the roadway and attempted a traffic stop at US 60 West and Worthington Road.

Per the release, the driver failed to stop for deputies and a pursuit was initiated. After a short pursuit deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped in front of Southern Star on Highway 56. The driver, identified as Scott, was taken into custody without further incident.

Officials said deputies developed probable cause that the driver was under the influence.
