Due to the potential of severe storms locally on March 3, the weekly noon storm siren test scheduled for Friday has been cancelled by the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency. Officials say to seek shelter if you hear the sirens, as this would not be a test.

Daviess County has 55 outdoor warning sirens that alert to approaching severe weather. Each siren covers approximately a one-mile radius, meant to warn those outside to seek shelter indoors.

Officials said as a reminder, storm sirens are designed to be heard outdoors only. The best method of warning for those indoors is an All-Hazards NOAA Weather Radio, followed by updates available via official weather services or through local media.
